Take Flight, is the primary curriculum used at Dyslexia Direct. Developed by the Scottish Rite Hospital, Take Flight uses the proven Orton-Gillingham approach in remediating dyslexia. While Take Flight is used the most, we also offer other programs to serve students with varying needs. Before enrolling your child, we will first conduct a screening and assessment to determine the most effective approach. We will deliver your child’s program with fidelity in order to produce the best possible outcome for your child. Your child will receive one-on-one therapy with a highly trained professional online from the safety and convenience of your own home.
Take Flight addresses the five essential components for effective reading instruction:
The relationship between speech-sound production and spelling-sound patterns is explicitly taught.
A systematic approach is used for single word decoding.
The research-based approach of repeated readings is used to help students read more fluently.
Multiple learning strategies and explicit techniques are applied to text.
Students are taught to use and articulate multiple comprehension strategies including story structure, summarization, and question generation and answering.
